here is a little bit about the day from kristine:

“Every part of the wedding had Ryan and I written all over it-  from the guys tux’s that Ryan picked out, to the song we exited to after being pronounced man and wife. We made sure that the wedding was elegant but relaxed enough for everyone to enjoy! We couldn’t have asked for a smoother, cooler wedding.

The most sentimental part of the wedding for me was when I was walking down the aisle with my mom and brother, I looked down the aisle at my dad and he was crying. I broke down at that point. It meant so much for my whole family to walk me down the aisle. There is symbolism in it, my mother, father, and brother have all impacted my life greatly at different times in my life.

I did have to laugh when my cousin told me that after the flower girls and ring bearer got down the aisle, the oldest ring bearer starting picking up the flower petals and said to my cousin “Here you go, Naomi dropped these!”

I couldn’t have asked for better brides maids or Maid of honor. They are my sisters in my heart. I have been friends with all of them for almost my entire life. Ryan has been friends with his groomsmen for the majority of his life too…We are really close to our families, & everyone at the wedding has been a lifelong friend. Even our wedding planner (we couldn’t have done anything with out her!) is part of Ryan’s family. We truly cherish our friends and family!

Ryan loved his groom’s cake that his brother -in-law Dino made. It was my gift to him! He was so surprised- he came up to me and said “Have you seen the cake?!?!” I just smiled. “You knew! When did you set this up?”  I explained to Ryan that Dino and I had started planning the cake in December.

We really enjoyed the parents and grandparents dancing with us. My favorite part was when my grandma said she was going to break her hip doing the Macarena, but enjoyed every minute of it.

– i want to thank everyone for being so patient with me the last couple weeks that i’ve been office-less! we’re all moved in now, & our new house is wonderful! i’ll share photos soon.

here is part two of deron & haley’s wedding! part one is here.

deron & haley’s wedding was just so lovely– & the best part was their beautiful appreciation for their amazing family & friends. i love how important family connections are to them, & how visible the love between everyone is. here is a bit that haley wrote about their wedding:

“Like Deron mentioned in his toast, we wanted the whole day to be about family and the union we were making. Deron and I are fortunate enough to come from families with a long history of strong and lasting marriages. We wanted to be reminded of those people who had been such an example of the commitment and unending love it takes to make a good marriage. We were looking forward to having all our favorite people in one place, at the same time, however, there were several important people who wouldn’t be with us that day and we wanted to honor their memory. When we first met, I became close to both of Deron’s grandmothers, but they passed away before we got engaged.

The reception being held in the Kansas Museum of History, we felt it was fitting to also have an “exhibit” of our family history. We tried to get wedding photos of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents (and even great-great-grandparents). The Lees still had a newspaper clipping from the 1930s from Deron’s grandma’s wedding. They also had a marriage license from Missouri dating to the 1870s.

One of my personal favorite parts of the reception was the cake topper. It was the same one my mother’s parents used on their wedding day in the late 40s.

In place of a guest book, we used a “wishing tree.” Guests could write a personalized note for us and hang it on the tree. Deron and I enjoyed reading the messages as we returned from our honeymoon. We got drawings, advice, blessings and more. We plan to scrapbook the notes for safe-keeping.

The wedding took place in my childhood church, the First Baptist Church of Topeka. My parents were married there in 1982. We had two ministers…one was Dr. Cheryl Henson, the current pastor of the church. The other was Dr. Joe Kutter, who was pastor of the church when I was a teen. Deron’s father, Dr. Lonnie H. Lee is a Presbyterian minister but we wanted to relieve him of the stress of conducting a ceremony. We wanted him to be able to be “dad” and not “Reverend” that day.”

these two are brilliant, funny, incredibly intelligent, & in love– a perfect match for each other!

we’ve got a lot of work to do in the next few days- moving into a new place, etc, so i won’t be on my computer or have internet access for awhile. but i’ll be back on top of things soon!!

the craziest week of the year for me is about to begin… it’ll be an adventure. haha
we have two weddings this weekend (one 5 hours away) & multiple shoots next week, as well as having to be completely packed up & moved out of our apartment- & into the new house (woohoo!)- by saturday.
i am super excited about the weddings & shoots!- & new house! …just not the packing. haha
anyway, it’s going to be a really busy week & i have a feeling my mind is going to be scattered all over the place…
that means… i will probably be rather behind on communication this next week, & sets will take just a little bit longer to finish. (although, the last thing to pack & the first thing to unpack is my computer! haha)

if you don’t hear from me for the next few days, don’t worry! i’m probably somewhere between packing, editing, driving, shooting, moving, painting, cleaning, sweating a LOT, & possibly ignoring all responsibilities & fleeing the country. just kidding.  i’ll be back & functioning normally hopefully sometime next week.
