ahhhhhh, i have so many good things to say about this wedding & heather & paul – i can’t even put it all into words!!![]()
my mom & i went to hermann, missouri for a couple days to shoot this wedding & the two of them put us up in a historic bed & breakfast where we had a great time!
you can see more of our adventures that weekend here.

i don’t even know where to begin to describe this lovely day!
heather & paul were married at little piney lodge, a few miles outside of hermann. the lodge sits on a hill, overlooking a lake. there’s a little cabin nestled in a wooded area, & a big open patio & covered area where the ceremony & reception were held. the peaceful, natural setting was the perfect, most fitting backdrop for their wedding.
everybody there was like a big huge family, all so kind & welcoming & fun!
paul & heather’s ceremony was so, so beautiful. i couldn’t help but get all misty-eyed like..20 times. i love that they didn’t have “bridesmaids & groomsmen” but the green side & the purple side! they wrote their whole ceremony, making it incredibly personal & touching. they passed their rings to everybody attending, asking for good thoughts & blessings from each of them. their close friends read from a children’s book that was perfect to describe their relationship, & heather & paul wrote out their own sweet, personal vows. heather wrote her’s in the style of dr. suess! SO AWESOME. possibly my favorite part of the ceremony was their use of two quotes from their favorite books as children…
“Corduroy blinked. There was a chair and a chest of drawers, and alongside a girl-size bed stood a little bed just the right size for him. The room was small, nothing like that enormous palace in the department store. ‘This must be home,’ he said. ‘ I know I’ve always wanted a home!’ Lisa sat down with Corduroy on her lap and began to sew a button on his overalls. ‘I like you the way you are,’ she said, ‘but you’ll be more comfortable with your shoulder strap fastened.’ ‘You must be a friend,’ said Corduroy. ‘I’ve always wanted a friend.’ ‘Me too!’ said Lisa, and gave him a big hug.”
— Don Freeman (Corduroy)
“Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music; perhaps . . . love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath.”
— L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Avonlea)
so beautiful.
the rest of the day was full of dancing, lemonade & cookies, a sweet slideshow made by heather’s brother, a photobooth (with an antique trunk full of props!), & all sorts of fun happenings. i absolutely loved all the quirky details of their day — not to mention all the people attending!!
heather & paul are a truly precious, unique, & sweet-hearted couple. they are so much fun & so wonderful!! i think these photos show it!![]()
